Portfolio Gallleries: Amelia Photographs: Imaginary Tales

Play

Photographs of Amelia evolve with my daughter’s maturing personality. Amelia is an active project partner in this project.

Along with our adventures meeting animals, we also choose scenarios with distinct colors and light. Our light and color palettes are integral to the photographs, inspired by paintings we love by Velazquez, DaVinci, Bastien-Lepage and Whistler, as well as images from the Pre-Raphaelite and Medieval periods. Amelia suggestions are also drawn by her attraction to the Victorian Era.

Amelia's favorite museum is The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Visiting the Met since Amelia was in the stroller has shaped this project.

An artist photographing her child can invite ridicule, but getting personal with my projects has always been my need, my edge. Motherhood has added a new perspective and dimension to my life and work.

Amelia is my priority, my muse, my co-conspirator, my tormentor and my bliss. Collaborating with Amelia, I am able to go to any place in time.
